Hey guys, thought I'd just post what they emailed me with regards to the format of the upcoming 'new' SAFRA league.

Format

· Teams will play a round-robin format followed by knockout games.

· Duration of league is from Feb '09 to Jul '09.

· The top 3 teams will receive Cash Prizes and trophies.

· All games will be played in 2 halves of 45 minutes.

· Tampines SAFRA reserves the right to change the Tournament Format to suit the number of teams entered and the League duration, without prior notice.

I hope that if they actually meet the required number of teams, they revert back to a normal league system. I have issues with the round robin idea, especially if they put us into different groups. We could have all the strong teams in one group and the weaker teams in the other as there is no accurate way for them to figure out the teams' seeding. Unless they do it the NFL or NBA way, which is round robin and the top 4 or 8 teams do a play-off. That would be a better way to determine the best teams of the league I think, when compared to grouping the teams randomly. Just my two cents. And a dollar.

Singapore - With the anticipation of the Safra League 2009 season, FMFC will be brushing up on their skills and keeping their fitness with upcoming friendly games. Registration for the upcoming league will be in the 2nd week of January, thus FMFC will only start to defend their title earliest being February onwards. All the players will be returning from their holiday seasons on 31st December, where they will lace up their boots for a pre-season run out @ The Cage. It is important for all players to attend this pre-season activity, do bring your friends along if they are up for the challenge!

New Signing: No. 23 Khairul Amri

The past two games saw many new faces plying their trade for FMFC but none caught the manager's eye as much as our new signing, No. 23, Khairul Amri. Amri brings with him the experience and level-headness from time playing with his previous teams, Victoria Secondary School and Tampines JC.

Being able to play anywhere down the right, he gives a new dimension to the team with his speed and tireless running. In the past two matches, Amri gave assuring performances, slotting effortlessly at right back and instantly looking at home with his fellow back line.

The Kit manager has expressed concern though that there have been problems with our sponsors for Amri's new jersey. He would like to apologise and assure fans that jerseys printed with Amri's name will soon be available in our team store.

One For The Minnows

It was a David and Goliath match up from the start and it ended a fairytale for "David". FMFC faced a stern test from NFL Div 2 side Tiong Bahru FC which included ex-S-League player Gusta Guzarishah who pulled the strings for them from midfield. It was an accomplished performance from the center midfielder, but it was not enough to stop them from losing to the SAFRA League champions two goals to one. FMFC were pegged back for most of the game as Tiong Bahru FC had the lion's share of the possession. The first half saw in-form forward Khidhir claim a freak goal, a result of a mix-up at the back between the center-half and the goalkeeper. The rest of the half saw FMFC repel wave after wave of Tiong Bahru attack, the defence expertly marshalled by Elfi. The only blight was a cut in the eye and nose for Hisham after Tiong Bahru's striker stuck a boot out in a one-on-one. There was a fear of a concussion for him, and Shrek was brought in to replace Hisham.
The start of the second half saw FMFC taking control of the game, with Alam and Bul playing a deeper game from midfield and actually passing the ball around, something which was sorely lacking in the first half. Shrek made a couple of fine saves in the second half when the FMFC defence was caught sleeping on a few occasions, but otherwise it was a disciplined performance on the whole. FMFC managed to score a second goal when Zul was fouled on the edge of the box and Alam curled in the resulting free kick into the top corner, the keeper rooted to the spot. Fatigue began to seep in for FMFC, and it showed when Tiong Bahru's striker actually managed to outrun Elfi and Shrek hesitated in rushing out of his line. The striker easily beat him and rolled the ball into an empty net. In the end FMFC managed to hold on till the final whistle, claiming a valuable victory which showed how far the team has come from its humble beginnings. It was a valuable experience for them, and it showed they had the means to win, either the beautiful or the hard way.
Next week will see FMFC taking on Marli's BF team, and maybe we shall see the return of the beautiful football that has enthralled, excited and made FMFC a favourite for many.

A local tabloid have reported that highly rated keeper, Jorge Ismael Gaizka Campos is unsure if he is able to accept the trial offer from FakeMadrid Football Club.

The former Mexican great commented that his commitment lies elsewhere at the moment and that he will sort out the best possible way to accommodate FakeMadrid FC if a serious offer is tabled upon him. He specifically mentioned that money is not an issue at the moment in spite of the global credit crunch.

Sources close to him reiterated that Ismael Gaizka have been club hopping for the past few years and that he would love to settle down at a high profile club as soon as possible.

In other news, FakeMadrid's fitness coach, Manuel Pelligrino have issued fitness timetables according to each player's needs. He requires players, besides Hisham and Khair, to report their injuries accordingly to the medical staff. He recommemends players with minor or recurring injuries to adapt to acupunture as a form of treatment to regain back full fitness. He wishes all the best for the upcoming pre-season.

Fake Madrid FC will begin their pre-season campaign this season with a friendly game against Faliq's Team(Haziq's Brother)on the 25th October 2008, 5pm, Safra. It was clear after their first training session on Friday night that the team lacked match practice. With only have 2 weeks to shape up, fans will be wondering how will they stand up against their reportedly match fit opponents next Saturday. We managed to catch up with the team manager for a more in-depth interview regarding the team's situation.

Rob: So what is your game plan for the first friendly match?
JLR: There will be lots of rotation in the game. The idea is to let all the players get their touch back.

Rob: There are rumors that Elfi will miss the match. Is it true? Will this affect your game plan?
JLR: Yup. We will definitely miss his presence but we do have players to cover his position.

Rob: How did the trial for a Goalkeeper go?
JLR: We have a few keepers in mind now and Mael is one of them. Anyway, Sham is working hand in hand with our medical team to ensure a swift return to the team.

Rob: Any other new signings?
JLR: Actually, I am happy with the talent i have now. So possible signings might only be as a cover for the injured or unavailable players. We are also looking forward to the return of our former sweeper, Nur Khair Shamsi. This will be great news for our fans.

Rob: So when will the league commence?
JLR: Our management have been in contact with Safra and so far there is no specific date set yet. But there will definitely be a 2nd season.

Rob: We hope so too. We expect the league to grow next season. Well, thank you for the interview and good luck for the upcoming match.

Reuters - FMFC's manager announced a new loan signing, Roslan amidst the goalkeeper crisis. FMFC operated last season with only one professional goalkeeper, using utility players Abu and Shrek as energency cover up. This season however looks different as Hisham Omar will have to go through rehabilitation for his ruptured knee cap. Speaking at the conference, "It is obvious now that one keeper is not enough. Doc: Its not looking too good

FMFC number 1 was substituted early on during the match against El-Classico after twisting his troublesome right knee in a collision with fellow defender Irwan.

There was immediate concern for Sham but he stood up and seemed to be on course to play this Sunday. However, the condition of his knee deteriorated and it is reported that Sham now moves around his house with his Ikea roller-chair.

It is most certain now that Sham will miss the match this Sunday and the club doctor said that he will not be in contention to figure in any football matches for weeks.

"I don't blame Irwan. These things happen in football. I wish the guys the best of luck for the rest of the matches. I just want to focus on recovering as soon as possible so I can get back into the team."

Sham has requested that we tell readers of his intention to sell his PSP. Proceeds will go to a charitable cause, himself mainly. We wish him all the best in his recovery.

On behalf of my team, Fake Madrid FC, I would like to express my disappointment at SAFRA’s false claim with regards to its prizes.
After receiving and checking the prizes, I am sure that the SAFRA League organizers have not met the valuation of $4,800 in cash and products promised to the league winners as shown in the advertising poster. The prizes received consist of :

Hello to all.

On the 3rd of May, this coming Saturday, the He-man Womun Haters Club will be having a meeting at JB. We are heading to Skudai to discuss on future plans for our parent club, FMFC, and the utilisation of the prize money, amongst other things, over a seafood dinner. So far only 6 womun-haters have confirmed. I would like to put out an invitation to all womun-haters (if you're a member of the team, you're by default a member of the He-man Womun Haters Club) to come with us. FMFC Vs Punggol Rivervale

Two goals were all it took for Fake Madrid FC to take the championship. A superb strike from Md Asyik A. Aziz and a brilliant solo effort by Md Elfi won the game.

Punggol had brought along their game that night as they were not handing the title to FMFC without a fight. Punggol forced a point blank save by FMFC's number 1, Hisham Omar, in the first half. Punggol were then denied the lead when their goal was ruled offside by the ref. The heavens were certainly in favour of FMFC when a well taken free kick by Punggol hit the crossbar just before the half-time whistle was blown. FMFC fans breathed a sigh of relief. Half time: 0-0

FMFC went one up against Punggol-Rivervale when Asyik, coming on as a substitute finished an unselfish cutback from right winger Md Zulkifli. Fans jumped in the air in jubilation as Asyik celebrated his goal with a rather unusual stick out tongue gesture. Rumor has it that it had been prophesied by the bench that he would come on and score a goal for FMFC that night.

FMFC's second goal came from the ever reliable Md 'Superman' Elfi when he made a brilliant run from his own half, beating a whole host of opposition before slotting the ball pass the goalkeeper. 2-0. Everyone associated with the club went crazy. FMFC are SAFRA League's 07/08 champions.

It didn't matter that FMFC later conceded a goal. No kick right in the balls were going to stop FMFC from writing their history. FMFC kept their cool, they knew victory was mins away. And when the ref blew the final whistle, FMFC celebrated their first competitive crown since first formed 5 years ago. The first and may it not be the last.

People! I would like to declare, officially, on the blog, that.. We did it. I love how 'Let's do this' has turned into that. We're champions. We've won the league. We went out there and did what we're supposed to. It was patchy and scary at first, but we rose to the occasion. It was ironic how everyone was screaming at each other the first half. But I knew right there, that wanting it bad enough was no longer a worry. I mean, everyone was running around getting the ball and screaming so much, we couldn't play our game. Still, it showed hunger, and I love to play in games when all of us are tuned and going for the kill. I have to say, yesterday has just become my favourite game to be involved in. Apart from the horrendous kick to my left nut, of course.

On behalf of the team, I would like to thank all the people that came down to support us. Mr Abdul Rahman aka The Godfather, Haikal's family and his loudest supporter his screaming little sister, the girlfriends who tries to come for every match, which is very sweet by the way (I swear I'm not trying to score points), the friends who we've not seen in ages. Everybody. Thank you! We might be having a big celebratory party soon and you're all invited. But it all depends on how the team wants to spend the prize money. Details will be updated on the blog so be sure to check up on us. Also do join our facebook group for more updates on matches and activities.

To get our football kicks, we would most probably be playing friendly matches or going back to street soccer or The Cage. To my teammates, my friends, my brothers.

I thought about this coming Wednesday, and what the match means to all of us. It, of course, is the defining match of this tournament, this league that we participate in. But if we take a moment for ourselves and look deeper, its more than that.

We've been together as a group for what, 8 years now? We grew up together, shared the many milestones of life we go through in our teenage years. From the highs of many first-times we share and talk about, to the lows of heartbreak and disappointment. Now that the bulk of us are turning 21, or entering adulthood to put it in a more significant manner, we will all choose our own paths in life, the road we'll each take as our own individual.

If you can recall, we used to talk about us running a company, with each of us having our own management positions and how Bul will be CEO. Those daydreams are fun to think about and I'm sure you are smiling as you recall the thought. It is not impossible, I know but realistically, it's a long shot. But keeping to our mentality since back then, never say never right? However, while you are recalling that thought, do also remember one conversation that seems to always repeat itself. The one where we talk about being middle-aged, with wives and children and we're still playing ball together. Think about that. And think about this Wednesday.

Winning this Wednesday would mean that we would achieve something, not as schoolmates, not as individuals, but as us. WE would achieve something. This will go beyond our run to the final back in secondary 2, or the championship some of us won with MJC. It will go beyond all our academic results which we can only apply to ourselves. If we win this, it will be an achievement we can share and talk about in years to come. It will be another forge in our bond, a memory to add to our library of memories filled with weirdness and lame-arse jokes. It will be, hopefully, the first of many successes on and off the field we will have together in our lives.

You might think, this is unnecessary pressure. You might think you don't need this and you just want to enjoy the match. Yes, enjoy the match. But look deep within you and ask yourself, don't you want to win it together as bad as I do? And even if we don't, I will still say, that I will not feel the same, sweating and bleeding on the field with anybody else on the field. I will not have the same will to give my all for my teammates. Because this is where I feel I belong. This is Fake Madrid FC.

As the Fake Madrid Football Club(FMFC) team bus rolled into the Stadia De Safra Tampinese, the team was greeted with dark clouds. Heavy showers with lightning throughout the day have threatened to stop the match on the faithful night of april the 14. Foreboding signs loomed.

FMFC, decked out in the blue and white strips were celebrating the return of their most capped player Zulkifli Md Azman who started alongside in form striker Khidir Johari. It was only a temporary relief for the team as 20 minutes into the game, defender Shaari Abdul Ngalim was sent off for what the ref saw as a second bookable offence. It was a very suspect decision by the ref. Both Shaari and FMFC captain Saifudeen A Rahman argued that the tackle was a fair one but was turned a deaf ear and sent Shaari marching off the pitch.

FMFC was soon about to be deal with other 'P adalah problems' in the form of a torn boot and cramps. Haziq's boot gave way before half time while Haikal was forced to sit on the sidelines for a few mins due to cramps. Captain Saifudeen on countless occasion had to urge the team on, to continue fighting. There was not going to be one FMFC head down at the end of the match.

The big break came when a rash tackle by a Darts FC player produced a straight red card from the ref. The playing field was level now. 10 against 10. It did not take long for FMFC to capitalize. Zul, with his blistering pace weaved pass the defensive line of Darts FC before blasting the ball across the goal beating the keeper and into the net. That was the turning point.

The second goal came from a screaming daisy cutter, Haziq, finding a loose ball from outside the opponent penalty box WHACKKKEEEDDD the ball to score his 5th goal of the season. FMFC was now in control. At half time, FMFC was two goals up.

An early substitution by FMFC signalled a more defensive approach. Md Subhan Bin Ahzam Bahdari replaced Zulkifli Md Azman at the start of the second half. It was the earliest time in a game that the newly discovered central midfilder had been called to action.

FMFC played it simple, clearing every ball considered a threat. They were taking no chances. On many occasions throughout the game goalkeeper Hisham Omar had kept the opposition strikers at bay. One handed saves, one on one encounters, Hisham was not to be beaten that night. FMFC central defender, Md Elfi Mustapha killed the game with a brilliant solo effort. Shrugging off a tackle he then with poise and graze of a gazzele, run at the defence before slotting in the goal.

3 goals, 3 deserving points in the bag. FMFC still in the title race. A beautiful night of football.

Boucing back from the disastrous defeat to the hands of PTMC three games ago, Fake Madrid Football Club (FMFC) have redeemed themselves with two spectacular showings. 3-1 win to Rock and a 7-0 trashing of PSSB spells a different team fielded against PTMC.
The return of influential captain, Bul, has given much needed physical presence and up the morale on the field. The introduction of Khidhir up front added a new dimension to the gameplay. Khidhir, a truely technical player, with exceptional ball control has got 3 goals in his 2 games as a striker. Fans have also be dazzled by the superb performance of Mr Apek down the left side of the field. Apek is a constant threat to the opposition on and off the ball. Apek proved his worth with his tireless running, sublime passes and pintpoint crosses.
The brilliance on the field have not only been confined to the three mentioned players however it is truely the fact that the team as a whole have up their game as they continue their quest for the championship. What's important (apart from Brother's Love), is for FMFC to continue playing at the level they are playing now. Keep scoring, keep winning games. The next match against front runners, Punggol-Rivervale would be THE MATCH of the season for FMFC. The rumour mill however has been buzzing that FMFC may again lose their captain to personal commitments. Who will be the anchor in the midfield? The dependable captain? and the visionary manager?

Singapura - As the season heads closer to the penultimate round, FMFC find themselves in a rather unconvincing position in the table, which is from as much internal information that we have, second place being just behind Punggol Rivervale by 5 points. (this is assuming the fact that they have won all their matches after their 2-1 win over FMFC)** A dismal 3-2 loss to PTMC accompanied by an early knockout in the Adidas Challenge by FMFC's futsal team, all in a space of a week, speaks only one thing. As said by jersey No.4, the story of 'his' life. In this case, its the story of FMFC's poor run. Critics believe that FMFC will have no chance to pick themselves up to the finish line. Captain Saifudeen, in a video conference right from Dubai, begs to differ though. He believes FMFC has what it takes to pick up themselves and go a stride further, edging themselves closer to the League Title. With about 6 more games to go and a clash with Punggol Rivervale in line, anything can happen. Anything.

Our No.1 has been on top form of late, with three clean sheets in a row. While the attackers have taken the limelight with their goals, Hisham Omar carries out his duties with aplomb with personal glory being not as forthcoming.

The keeper has decided to postpone the surgery on his troublesome right knee indefinitely, "The doctor said people live with meniscus tears all the time. So I think I'll keep playing."

Singapore - FMFC produced a battling display yesterday, as they closed down Luchas Locs at every chance last night en route to recording a 1-0 deserving victory. Their patience and hard work was rewarded in 75th min when No.14 Zulkufli Azman, who had been a constant threat to the opponents lobbed the keeper after a good play between him and No.15 Muhadher Mahmud. Luchas Locs were first seen squabbling amongst themselves before turning the attention to the referee, the opponents FMFC and then the match commissioner. Luchas Locs were turning every single issue into a fight and it brought the match to a standstill at least for a few minutes. Despite all that, it was all smiles in the FMFC camp as they are now on the right track in retaining the top place in table.

Singapore - Head coach Nur Khair Shamsi maintains FMFC must stay blinkered and not concern themselves with the performances of their rivals if they are to go on and win the League title race. Last week, 8 FMFC players were sent to Phuket to recuperate and will only join the rest of the team a day before the match. Answering to the questions raised by the media in sending those players in the middle of the season, manager Saifudeen A Rahman said, 'I believe they will come back from this refreshed and ready to continue the challenge for honours.' A tough match will be expected when Luchas Locs visits FMFC in their home ground. Their previous match which was marred by controversies ended in the way of FMFC thanks to midfielder Nizam Hashim. FMFC will look set to to continue their rise from poor form with a convincing victory this time round.

FMFC 5 - 1 APSSB

If you've never been to a sideshow circus, the match between FMFC and APSSB is the closest thing you can get to one. Starring a poorly-trained referee, what was supposed to be an entertaining football match turned into a series of bad calls and laughable decisions by the referee, a performance that would make ex-FIFA referee Graham Pall proud.

FMFC converted a set piece to take the lead early in the first half. Elfi headed in Lan's corner, to open the flood gates for the rest of the goals. The second goal came not too long after. Kiki, holding on to the ball despite being surrounded by three players, unleashed Raymond with an exquisite pass, making a statement to fans and teammates that Alam should no be missed. The pass put Raymond through on goal and finished calmly placing the ball pass the keeper.

APSSB managed to nick one back, scoring after their striker went one-on-one with Sham. Our captain, Bul, managed to notch one for himself, finishing at close range after the opposition failed to clear the corner from Zam. Raymond and Elfi got a goal each before the half time, signalling the end of the football match and the start of the circus.

There were no goals and for those of you who watched the match, you would be forgiven if you have forgotten all the highlights of the second half. FMFC had many chances on goal, but the referee, with his new corrupted brand of FIFA football rules, blew for offside countless of times. Any football fan, would know that when the ball is passed behind, like in rugby, it doesnt matter if the attackers are in an offside position. The referee, however, probably failed to read up during referee school. Haikal and Zul was cautioned for verbally giving their opinions of the numerous false calls the referee made.

Despite the poor show from the referee, the game ended with FMFC winning 5 - 1. Keeping pace with the leaders, the team would have to guard against complacency to keep their place at the summit.

A second half brace was enough to secure an FMFC win in a highly-anticipated match against Rock.

FMFC found themselves against a resilient team, playing to their strengths in speed. The commentator had put it perfectly when he said that Rock was playing without a midfield. Their constant long balls behind the strikers were a constant threat to FMFC. Time and time again the strikers found themselves running into space and clear for goal. If not for yet another exemplary performance by Elfi, FMFC would have been in trouble.

Rock took the lead in the dying minute of the first half, after a defensive error from a freekick lead to a free header in the 6-yard box. Despite numerous chances to go ahead in the first half, FMFC found themselves going in at half-time without the lead.

Player-manager-captain Bul made a change for the second half, substituting Raymond for Zul. The move proved to be an inspired one, with Zul latching on to an exquisite cross-field pass from Alam, sending the keeper the other way before calmly sloting in the equalizer.

Rock had numerous chances to go ahead, but FMFC's defence, lead by Elfi's man-of-the-match performance, held firm. In what was to be the last kick of the game, a swinging corner from Alam found a rising Elfi, who headed the winner. A hard earned win that puts FMFC on equal points with the league leaders, a game in hand.

Singapore - High-flying Rock meets Fake Madrid FC in this week's Sunday Special kick-off. The afternoon game will be expecting a sell out crowd as the only 2 unbeaten team in the Safra league lock horns for the second time in 2 months. Last month, a friendly between them saw FMFC winning 2-1 in a highly charged game. Rock, in 2nd place will be going into this game with a superior goal advantage of 18 compared to 7 of the 3rd placed FMFC. This fact however will not affect FMFC too much as they will be with a complete squad, something that the fans have been waiting for since the season started. Both teams, with a game in hand are now level on points with Luchas-Locs and Darts SC and hence will need this victory to pull away from the chasing pack. It is obvious that the victor tomorrow will earn the tag, "team to beat", in the league.

Singapore - The newly launched "very strict" SAFRA League is once again under the microscope due to the recent controversy involving one of the teams in the league, Viva FC. The FA rejected appeals by former Viva FC executives to let them stay in the league and as such, SAFRA league will now be operating as a 9 team competition instead of 10. Viva FC has been relegated to the unknown and the expulsion will take place immediately according to Coerver and SAFRA. This decision is taken after Viva FC failed to conform to the strict SAFRA league requirements.

All matches against Viva FC will be cancelled and taken as null and void. The only team to be affected by this ruling will be FMFC and the walkover game against Viva FC will not be counted. Other than that, the league will still go on as per normal...we hope.

It was a lacklustre performance, one which got the captain raving mad at half-time. But as they say, championships are won when teams are able to grind out results like these. The first half was dull to say the least, with both teams consistently cancelling each other out. PTMC played with Imran, an undefeated world Silat champion, as a one-man strike force. Haikal and Elfi found him a handful as Imran managed to test Sham with a few shots on goal. The FMFC players looked disillusioned and everyone seemed to be on heavy legs. The match was goalless at half time.

Bul was blunt towards the team at half-time, telling them that it was just not good enough. Changes were made. Kiki and Alam, released temporarily from his National Service was introduced and ten minutes into the second half, Alam reminded everyone how important a player he is to FMFC.

Receiving the ball from Azhar, Alam looked up for a second and gave a defence splitting pass to release Zul on the right wing. Using his pace, Zul got to the ball first with all the time and space to put in a superb cross for Lan, get this people, to head the ball home. The team's celebrations echoed more of relief than joy, but nevertheless, FMFC took the lead. The manager must have been happy with Lan, who was told that his heading needed improvement. What better way to show that he could head with his goal.

Midway through the second half saw the debut of new signing of the No. 15, Muhadher. Thrown to action as the left forward, Muhadher showed glimpses of his brilliance. Managing to dribble past three defenders, Muhadher put himself straight through on goal but, showing a tinge of rustiness, managed only to shoot into the safety of the opposition keeper's arms. The fans are excited to see what a fully-fit Muhadher can do for FMFC on the pitch.

FMFC could have gone one goal up with Elfi bursting through the middle. He had a clear shot on goal. Everyone thought it was going in after a juggernaut of a shot but the opposition keeper made what could be save of the season at point blank range. The match simmered but rarely got into the electric pace of past matches involving FMFC.

marred by the recent ego-boosting one-nil victory over Luchaz-Loccos FC, there was absolutely no doubt complacency took over the game in yesterday's one-nil victory over PTMC. FMFC began the match full of confidence, perhaps over-confident, that their natural attacking football went haywire. Even an inspirational speech by Captain Marvel during the interval, couldn't get things going. With the introduction of Aslam Yusoff right after the break, a measured delicate pass from him to Zulkifli, crossing to Asyik with inch perfection. The latter then produced a sublime header to finish off the creative play. From then till the final whistle, neither the rantings nor the encouragements could get the team to play beautiful football. Will it be a case of attacking football lacking the killer touch?

JLR : 'The recruitment we do in January will be based on a bit of pragmatism. There's no doubt we need to bring some new players to boost and make us ready to give it a real go towards the end of the season. We're certainly going to be investing in this window - that is for sure. For weeks now, the media has speculated in countless news reports that Muhadher, known for his superb playmaking and goal scoring ability, is intending to come out of retirement and sign for FMFC.

At a press conference, Muhadher admitted that he would jump at the oppurtunity to reunite with his ex-teammates.

"FMFC is a great club. I have friends there and Zul has been texting me telling me only good things. I played with many of them when we won the A Division Championship two years back. I believe it would be easy for me to settle."

During pre-season, Bul has came out to say that he wanted to sign Muhadher for FMFC. However, talks broke down due to Muhadher's National Service commitments.

"I regret my decision not to have signed. I thought about it and it was best for my family and me. Now I heard that they are interested in me again, and I hope the rumours are true."

Fans are silently hoping that the manager and the chairman are doing all they can to bring Muhadher to the team. Muhadher would give the team much needed firepower in the absence of Alam, who is unable to play as he is serving in the army.

The No. 7 scored his 2nd goal in two matches in the recent match against
Luchaz-Loccos FC. Fans would be hoping that the attacking midfielder, who
can play upfront as well, will keep up this form as the Safra League
welcomes the new year.

"Its always great to score goals and I do what I can. Honestly, I get the
same buzz if I make an assist. I enjoy setting up goals as much as scoring
them. Maybe even more so."

Zamron, who was recently a victim of vehicle theft, did not let his
personal problems affect his performance on the pitch. When asked about the
incident, he replied, "What's done is done. I just hope that this incident
would serve as a reminder to the fans to stay alert. It will not affect me
on the pitch, thats for sure. The Police has assured me that they will do
what they can so we'll see what happens."

After their recent win, FMFC is on a 5 match winning streak. The team is
top of the table and with the return of their star playmaker Alam early
next year, the team looks in good stead. However, Zamron reminds the fans
not to get carried away as the manager has told the players to take it one
game at a time.

"We have got to keep this form going. But football is funny. You win a few
matches and you will feel invincible but if you lose the next one, it might
be a blow to your spirit. We must not let that happen to us. The gaffer has
told us to take it a game at a time and thats the mentality the team
adopts. We have the best fans in the world, thats for sure. And with them
behind us, anything is possible."

Shamy: I gave in to temptation

In the recent match between FMFC and Luchaz-Loccos FC, FMFC's No. 1 Sham
suffered calf pulls in the second half and had to be substituted. Many were
saying that he was not fit enough to start in the first place. However,
being the honest player that he is, Sham refused to rest the blame to on
the management. Holding a press conference at the club's training ground
this morning, Sham was barraged with concerned questions from the
reporters. When asked if he was able to start the next match, Sham smiled
and nodded his head.

"I felt a pull in my left leg and I tried to continue after that. It was
weird as I felt that I had done my stretches correctly and before the start
of the second half, I was fine. I wasn't really struggling but when I took
the goalkick and my right calf gave in, I knew I was done. I assured the
gaffer that I was fit to start and as you all know, us players never want
to miss a game. I felt I let the team down and I would like to apologise
for that. I did not prepare for the game and I even had half a tub of
Haagen Daz Cookies and Cream just before the match. I mean, you don't say
no to Haagen Daz C&C. And I say this without them paying me."

Club representatives said that disciplinary action might be taken against
the No. 1 and when told about this, he had this to say.

"I accept whatever decision the club makes. It was my mistake and I will
not do it again. Be assured that the next match, I will have the missus
remind me to take in saltwater and do my necessary stretching."

Sham's substitution might be a blessing in disguise as the FMFC fans got to
see Abu, the league's best utility player, in action as a keeper. Its good

You'd think with a scoreline like that, it was a match to be missed. In
truth, the match between FMFC and Luchas-Loccos FC, a team touted to win
the SAFRA League, provided high entertaintment value for the throngs of
fans that came to watch. Luchaz went loccos (excuse the corniness) from the
start, rampaging the FMFC defence with attack after attack. As Kiki and Zam
got the game on the way, the Luchaz players showed their tactical
discipline, closing down every FMFC player who had the ball. It looked to
be a horrid evening for FMFC's defence but just as expected, the defence
had an excellent game. Marshalled by Elfi, the defence held firm, breaking
down wave after wave of attacks by Luchaz players. Bul, the influential
captain, pulled his weight and destroyed potential built ups by the other
team. Azhar, the newly signed right back of FMFC, was especially
phenomenal. He was given the task to keep the number 22 Luchaz winger quiet
and he went about it with the efficiency of an assassin. There was no way
their number 22 was going to get pass Azhar, who made him look mediocre.
Such was the excellence of FMFC's defence, that it was no surprise that the
first real chance of the game was from a freekick taken by Elfi. As the
opposition keeper was commanding his defence, Elfi lined up for a cross but
instead, spotting the keeper off his line, took a direct shot at goal from
all 40 yards. Everyone thought it was going in, even the opposition keeper
gave up and fell helplessly to the floor. However, instead of the finding
the net, the ball bounced off the upright. It would've been THE goal of the
season. It was a miss, but a miss which gave the FMFC players the belief
that they could win it.

With that belief, the game became end to end stuff. LLFC had a disallowed
goal. Earning a freekick at the edge of the box, the number 12 curled the
ball into the net only for the referee to blow the whistle as an opposition
player stood infront of Sham, blocking his line of sight. However, there
was no excuse for the wall to have allowed the ball through. Luckily, the
mistake was not punished. Towards the end of the first half, FMFC earned a
corner which Lan took. Elfi found himself totally unmarked and leaped for
the ball. The opposition keeper got a weak hand to it and the ball bounced
generously to Zamron. With thanks in his feet, he chipped the ball above
the defence and any hope of saving it. Goal. Brimming with confidence, FMFC
ended the half with a high. With a defence splitting pass, Lan found Zul
with acres of space, acres which he duely exploited with his blistering
pace. (Read that again, its like Dr Seuss.) With the defence unable to keep
up, he found himself one on one with the opposition keeper, who made
himself big and stopped the onslaught from Zul. However, minutes later, Zul
had another chance. Running from the defence, he took the ball all the way
before attempting a cheeky chip above the keeper. It was a good attempt,
but no goal. Lan was substituted due to a misunderstanding with
player-manager-captain, Bul. Thinking Lan was suffering from an injury, Bul
brought in Haziq in place of him. Lan's body language while walking towards
the touchline showed exactly what he thought of the move.

During the second half, LLFC was out to make amends. They showed their
winning mentality as they kept hounding the defence to make mistakes. Elfi
found himself making last ditch tackles, flying through the air to block a
free kick and intercepting pass after pass. After a commanding first half,
Sham looked poised to end the game with a clean sheet. However, from the
first goal kick of the second half, you could see he was suffering from
extreme discomfort. He went down twice before being substituted after
complaining of pulls in both legs. Abu, previously substituted in as an
outfield player, swapped jerseys with Sham and took his place. It was a
long time since he played as a keeper, but being the utitlity player that
he is, he deputied outstandlingly. Pointless passes, rough tackles, two
yellow cards and a red card showed LLFC's growing frustrations as the game
drew to a close. The players on the sidelines were asking the 2nd official
for the time and they counted down eagerly as LLFC orchestrated attack
after attack. By now, the strain was showing in FMFC's defence but they
still managed to hold firm. The final whistle finally came and the fans
rejoiced as FMFC recorded their 5th straight win. They are now top of the
table and the fans would be hoping come April, the trophy would be theirs.

Hello readers.

Thanks for visting the newly revamped FMFC blogsite. As you may have seen from the picture, since the last time, we have grown, numerically and also as a team. As Liverpool Manager Rafa Benitez always say, you can always improve. And that is exactly what we've done.

FMFC is now competing in a league organised by SAFRA called, as you may have guessed, the SAFRA League. It was an idea brought about by our captain, Bul, as we had not been playing very much. At first, the team members were reluctant as the participation fee was high, but Bul managed to sign a sponsorship agreement with Fatimah Trading Pte Ltd. On behalf of the team, I would like to sincerely thank the Chairman, Mr Abdul Rahman, for his support and I hope we have played football that you enjoy and that we will present you the league title come April next year.

Readers, be assured that there's a renewed sense of enthusiasm around the team and hopefully we have been showing it on the pitch. The support from the previous matches has been great and I hope it will continue for our next match this Thursday, 27 Dec 07. Do visit this blog for updates on match dates and match details. Insiders of the game have claimed to hear whispers of FMFC's involvement in a match due to be held on Saturday, 21 Jul 07. However, none of the players can be contacted. It is known that most of them are busy with other commitments and their whereabouts are unknown. FMFC's spokeperson, Malek Jabeer, is thought to have been involved with several attacks in Iraq and have not been heard since. Fans are silently hoping the match would happen, but knowing their team, they do not want to get overexcited in fear of severe disappointment. The footballing world is at a standstill, hoping for the rumours to come true.

There have been many matches since the last update but due to the sheer incompetence of FMFC's match reporters, no reports are made. All of their contracts with the club have since been terminated and I, Sham, shall take over the reporting since I practically watch the whole match with the way the team is playing at the moment. I don't know if it is because the team is in form, or because we are not finding opponents of quality.

Quality. That came from a match against MJC. Although we clearly deserved to win that match, the MJC football team gave us a good fight and eventually won due to some play acting by their striker, Zul, which earned them a second penalty. The first, I admit, was my fault as I took the guy out with my legs. A keeper's gotta do what a keeper's gotta do you know? The end score was 3-2. I think. It was quite a long time ago.

Then we had some other matches. I know we won them. I did not play in one.

Yesterday we played TPJC and won 3-0. The match was okay I guess. Three people scored and stuff. The highlight of the match was what happened after it. FMFC almost always play "punch" in every match. No its not us using violence to win. The term 'punch' to those who are unawares, means that the losing team pays for whatever cost there is to set up the match. In this match against TPJC, we played at their school. They had cheer leaders and all because of OG camp. After we won, we were told we had to pay. Some of the guys weren't too happy about it but $50 shared between two teams wont be that bad. Then Noordin or however his name is spelled refused to let his players chip in so the team had to pay the referee. This is in no fault of the TPJC players, just their coach or teacher-in-charge. Well anyway, as the guys would say.. The Hworst.

All the right reasons.

Football aside, the FMFC guys are all going through a transitional period now. Just like after the great move after O levels, life is again changing for the guys. Zam, Lan, Lel, and now Elfi all have bike licenses though out of the four, only Zam has a bike. That is soon to change as the other three are working towards getting one. Khair and Bul are not far off with Khair waiting for the Traffic Police test date and Bul now in his last practical lesson, lesson 8, before having to take the test himself. To these guys, public transport will no longer be a necessity. Haikal is the first of us to enlist and he has finished his BMT. According to him, the five day intensive training was focused on spy tactics and espionage. Yes, Haikal is a spy for Singapore though he is currently posted at Pulau Tekong working an 8-5 job, as a cover-up of course.

FREEDOM IS NEAR

Stagnant. An accurate word to describe the club. The dreaded A level examinations, affecting 8 of our players, are now becoming a thing of the past. Tomorrow, 6 of those affected will be free. Their trials and tribulations have ended. Tomorrow will see the rejuvenation of football, fakemadrid style. Straight after the Chemistry MCQ paper, several of FMFC players will play street football at MJC. This is just a start. Their legs are itchy. The green of a pitch could send them into wanting. FMFC is hungry.

Starting next Monday, 21st November, FMFC will face the current MJC team at the MJC field. Admittedly, the players may not be at their best due to their long hiatus from kicking a ball but nevertheless, the fans can expect an exhilarating game of football. No longer under the screaming authority of Coach Fabio, ex-MJC players in FMFC like Bul and Lan will be relishing to go against their former coach. I'm sure the fans of both MJC and FMFC are salivating to the prospect of such a promising match.

Two players, however, are not fully released from their toils. Sham and Abu, both still having Literature papers next Thursday, would surely feel nothing but envy. Their last paper falls on the morning of the promised FMFC gathering at Chalet Aloha. We wish them all the best and pray that they are to focus during the paper.

Let the football begin.

FMFC 2 -0 Ah-Bak SP: FMFC faced with a tough challenge

SINGAPORE, September 29 - FMFC was made to work hard to win a resilient Ah-Bak SP side. From the beginning, the players of Ah-Bak showed that they meant business. Upon arrival, they were seen by Zam, the earliest player of FMFC to arrive at St Wilfred, already changed and gearing up for the match. As the other FMFC players came, I could see their surprise as they looked at their opponents. The eagerness of the Ah-Bak side was met with a lacklustre entrance by the FMFC team. Bordering on being disrespectful, the FMFC players came in small groups, took their time till they were late and so late to the point that they had to start with nine men. Captain John and Qader was seen running into St Wilfred five mins after the match started. Alam, who eariler promised to improve his performance for the team, showed up almost 15 mins later. For the sake of the fans, I hope such unprofessionalism would not happen again.

Abu and Lel were the two upfront. The midfield consisted of Apek on the left, Lan and Bul in the centre and Zam on the right. Pit and Wan were the two behind until John and Qader arrived. Ah-Bak SP started with the eagerness and gusto expected from them. With only nine men, the FMFC players were left struggling as pinpoint longballs sent the speedy Ah-Bak wingers to cross in countless balls, causing havoc in the defence. When John and Qader entered the game, the FMFC backline was more stable but Ah-Bak still carried on with their constant attacks. The FMFC players were made to pay for their lack of warm-ups before the game with a lacklustre beginning to the game. All they could do was pass the ball around and lose it in the final third of the field. Sham was called upon early in the game, having to intercept numerous crosses from their wings. The first half was entertaining for the neutral with both sides playing their own brand of football and creating decent chances but no goals were scored. During half time, injured player-turned-coach Khair talked to the team and made some changes which saw Lan switching to the right of midfield, a surprising change that was surprisingly effective.

After many times being caught offside, the player who arrived late redeemed himself by beating the offside trap and cooly placed the ball through the keeper's legs. I bet Alam was secretly relieved that he managed to score. It wasn't plain sailing for FMFC though as they accepted victory a little too early, almost conceding thrice before scoring another. One pass found number 27 of Ah-Bak who managed to chipped the ball over Sham even with Wan chasing him down. Unfortunately for them though, the ball hit the post and the look of dismay could be seen on his face. The crucial goal was scored by none other than the free scoring left winger of FMFC, Apek. Lan, with his great burst of speed, managed to beat the offside trap and with a cutback pass, found Apek in the 6 yard area with little to do but a tap in. Abu was almost there to the ball and the goal could have easily been his.

A disciplined Ah-Bak side was rattled with the countless number of times their strikers were caught offside and towards the end of the game, the early pressure shown by them were but a distant memory. Their bad luck was summed up when their striker, having found room in the penalty box, shot straight at Sham who punched the ball away.

Lan was the man of the match with his steller performance on the right wing, creating many chances for FMFC. Bul, though having a good game destroying in midfield and even playing centre-back, didn't win that title perhaps due to the number of fouls he made. This goes to show that Ah-Bak was indeed a formidable opponent, even the usually flawless Bul was pushed to make some hard tackles.

This win takes FMFC's winning streak to an impressive five games in a row.- Rooters

FMFC: Players unsettled with rumours

Recent speculation of Brazillian Desmond Sim wanting to join the club on a permanent basis have lead to several players being unhappy. The addition of another player would mean that there would be more competition for places. For the neutral, Desmond Sim would be a superb signing but to those who have always loved the club would understand how the players feel. FMFC has never participate in the transfer market for any player with the exception of several loan deals due to current players not being available. As many are aware, the current team lacks depth but that has not stop the team from playing the beautiful football they are capable of. For people who aren't associated for the club, it would seem unusual for such a big team to have little players. This policy of having a minimal number of players is due to the mindset of the players themselves. The unlucky two on the bench would often be seen screaming to their teammates, asking for a substitution. The players of FMFC love the game so much that they cannot bear not playing. Selfish? I don't think so. This goes to show that even with the millions that are involved with the game nowadays, players like those of FMFC still, truly, love the game. With such revolt from the fans, those rumours of Desmond Sim joining FMFC may remain just that.- Rooters

it turned out to be a disappointing performance from this established player, hardly contributing any noteworthy passes or crosses. turning up late for the match, he came into the match late into the 1st half replacing Apek, who had a sterling performance at left wing. Coming back from a lengthy layoff (the last match he played was in early 2005) his below par performance was overshadowed by Lan, who overtook play-making responsibilities in Alam's absence, and Bul, who was the Man of the Match. Hardly featuring in the game, the few occasions he got the ball resulted in a loss of possession for FMFC. He even showed some prima donna behaviour when he kicked a fellow opponent's rear and getting into needless fights with the opponents. Surprisingly though, he appeared very jovial and was constantly joking around with his team-mates and the supporters. We caught up with him after the game.

Blogger: Hey Alam, how was the game for you?
Alam: Oh hey, haha it was fun. The lads did really well and I'm proud of them.
B: You didn't really perform did you?
A: Oh nah, I found it really hard to get into the game and I was struggling with my fitness.
B: We noticed you came late.
A: Haha yeah, I had something really urgent to attend to with my GF.
B: So what do you make of the opponents, SRJC?
A: Well they played some decent football, and the goal was really well taken, but I think we had too much quality for them.
B: You did kick out at the right back didn't you?
A: Oh no, the ground was really slippery and I couldn't prevent my right leg from sticking out. Felt really sorry for the fella though.
B: What about the arguments on the pitch?
A: Oh, that guy was a pain in the *** man, said some really silly things and my mates were kinda pissed off with him. Just gave him a piece of my mind, but yeah all's well after that. I mean, what happens on the pitch stays in the pitch dude.
B: So, what are your chances against Irwan's Friend Team?
A: Hmmm I'm not too sure, I haven't heard too much about them, just that they can play some decent football. But I expect the lads to rise to the occasion.
B: Can we expect a sterling performance from you?
A: Haha, well I'll try my best, I received some comments about the way I played today but I always give the best of what I have in matches.

FMFC 5-1 SRJC Representatives

Admist the backdrop of a foreboding sky, some good football was played at Ubi Avenue 1. The highly anticipated match was met with a record turnout, a total of 3 FMFC fans were present to give undying support to our players. The match had been long awaited, with the players buzzing to get on the field after finishing their duties as students. Taking a break from less important matters like preparing for their A levels, the players went out there and gave us a good game. This match saw the return of their man between the posts, Sham, back from injury. Though still injured, the former lastman Khair made a debut on the right wing. Qader, finished with his commitments with Yemen or perhaps taking a break, started in an unfamiliar right back. The fans would have been worried but they should have known better. Also, the players of FMFC met the likes of Umar and Hazzely, their old mates from the TK academy.

The match turned out to be unexpectedly one-sided, with three goals, true to Fake Madrid fashion, scored in the first half. The tireless man upfront, Abu, lobbed a ball infront of Apek who cooly volleyed it behind the helpless keeper. Heavy rain then threatened to stop an ongoing Fake Madrid onslaught but luckily the referee too was entertained and decided against it. Not long after, Zam found himself with alot of room and finished with style as he lobbed the ball over the keeper. The players were enjoying themselves but knowing and hearing the large crowd of three, they knew it wasn't enough. A through pass from Lan found a galloping Lel who placed the ball into the net. By then the frustrated Hazzely was shouting at his teammates for their lack of commitment. I'm sure the players were expecting a driven retaliation from that point on.

And thats what they got. In the second half, inspired by the recent comeback of Liverpool FC against AC Milan, the SRJC representatives gave the FMFC defence a run around. Though constantly finding space in the midfield, they failed to get past the wall that was the back four. Qader made several heroic blocks and the combination of John and Pit looked as stable as ever. Though Wan had an injured ankle, he went about his way cutting runs by their right wingers. Sham hadn't much to do, until John made a mistake, holding the ball for too long. The determined striker from SRJC managed to take the ball off John and pass it to their man of the moment, Umar, who put the ball past a forsaken Sham. From that moment, FMFC regained momentum and murmurs were heard coming from Bul, reminding the team not to slack off. In an inspired move, Lel cleverly slotted through pass to Bul who was bound for goal. Instead of going for it, he unselfishly made the keeper commit and passed the ball to Abu for an easy tap in. Nevertheless its number two for this utility player who can double as keeper. Lel then ended the one-sided contest with a mischevious chip across the keeper, typical of the man I must say.

Overall, several names were being chanted by the fans. Bul gave in a typically solid performance in the middle of the park. Lan was opening up the opposition's defence with his splitting passes and his part as a defender towards the end of the game. Being compared to both Liverpool FC's Peter Crouch and Manchester United's Rio Ferdinand must have made him blush. Qader gave a solid show at right back and Lel showed everyone what he can do. The bookmakers though have been shouting Bul's name for Man of the Match at the end of the whistle and they got it right, with his constant presence in midfield, cleaning up the mistakes and destroying the opposition's play. One player who was average though was FMFC's most established player, Alam. Perhaps the pressure is getting to him and the fans hope for the return of the former Alam who is best remembered for his match-winning performances against FMFC's rivals, PPC.

A four day break would leave the players geared up for the upcoming match against Irwan's Friend Club (not their real name as their identity is unknown) this Friday. Playing at St Wildfred Sport Complex, the smooth ground promises a great game of football. I can hardly wait. -Rooters
